Kovar® is an iron cobalt nickel alloy with a coefficient of thermal expansion similar to that of hard glass. Extensive quality controls are employed during the manufacturing of UNS K94610 to ensure uniform physical and mechanical properties for ease in deep drawing, stamping and machining. The coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of Kovar® is its most dynamic mechanical property.
Why Choose Kovar®?
Iron cobalt nickel alloy Kovar® is precisely formulated and controlled to produce a coefficient of thermal expansion that is very close to that of hard glass or ceramic, which means that it expands and contracts at a similar rate. This material is ideal for applications that require glass to metal seals, especially where a hermetic seal must be maintained across a wide temperature range.
